Last Defenders

The Last Defenders Reviews

I found three decent reviews of The Last Defenders #1. All of them are a little tepid but generally favorable. Myself, I had some problems with the issue but overall I think it was pretty good.

I can say with some confidence that The Last Defenders #1 is something nearly all Shulkie.com readers will enjoy.

Last Defenders #1 Release Tomorrow

Last Defenders #1Last Defenders #1Make sure to pick up The Last Defenders #1 tomorrow. She-Hulk is a member of the team - New Jersey's "Initiative". I'm not certain that she's in for the long haul, but our green girl is in there at least for the first issue.

The art looks great and the storyline seems pretty solid, based on the admittedly little I know about it. Colossus, another long-term fave of mine, is also a member of the team. Nighthawk, who's pretty lame if you ask me, is the team leader.

The series is written by Joe Casey, with art by the legendary Keith Giffen along with Jim Muniz. In the old days I'd have concluded that the substantial talent base there guaranteed a good comic, but then that's what I thought about Peter David taking over She-Hulk and some of you might have noticed that it didn't quite work out that way.

Last Defenders interview

Last Defenders #1Last Defenders #1Comic Book Resources has an interview with Marvel's Joe Casey about the upcoming Last Defenders release. According to Casey, Last Defenders will be "pulling heroes from all corners of the Marvel Universe":

There is only one returning Defender in the line-up of “The Last Defenders,” but his teammates will all be familiar to Marvel fans. The returning Defender and team leader is Nighthawk AKA Kyle Richmond, and his teammates are Colossus of the X-Men; She-Hulk, formerly of the Fantastic Four and the Avengers; and the Blazing Skull, a member of the now defunct Invaders.

From the excellent Jim Muniz preview art shown at CBR and Casey's record of producing interesting comics, I have high hopes for Last Defenders.
