She-Hulk #26 sales come in 26th

She-Hulk #26She-Hulk #26Well, Peter David's She-Hulk managed to shit the bed in February, racking up the lowest sales number of the whole run at 22,181 copies sold.

The crappy numbers are not entirely Peter David's fault, seeing as how comic books sales were down across the board last month. As a result of the downward momentum, the She-Hulk title managed to stay just inside the top 100 books. With luck that will immunize it against cancellation for the time being.

IGN Review of She-Hulk #26

She-Hulk #26She-Hulk #26IGN's Jesse Schedeen - who's normally much nicer than me - has written a slice 'em dice 'em review of She-Hulk #26 and the Peter David run in general. Even I cringed.

Schedeen writes:

Every month since his run began, Peter David has given me the impression he's just phoning in his work. I can appreciate that he has a close creative connection to the Jade Giantess, but if he's not going to try harder I wish Marvel would find a new replacement. She-Hulk simply deserves better.

Damn!

She-Hulk #26 is Crap

Let me just say, right off the bat, that Shawn Moll's art is really good.

Otherwise, the only really noteworthy thing in She-Hulk #26 is that four of the six characters appearing in this issue are green. Peter David is just piling green people into the comic, for no apparent reason. I don't know what's wrong with the man. He's got green serial killers, green bounty hunters, green assassins. Maybe he thought it would seem funny on the page. (It doesn't.)

Growing up, I actually knew a girl who was green. I can't think of her name right now, but she stood behind me at my First Communion procession. She had a greenish tint to her skin. And I remember thinking at rehearsal that I was imagining it - that she wasn't really green - but then at the ceremony her family showed up, and about half of them were also green. So I guess it was a genetic thing.

Remarkably, she doesn't show up in this issue.
