She-Hulk

Hopefully by now you've seen The Incredible McCain Girl video featuring Colette Nelson. In the spoof, a meek and mild female McCain supporter is transmogrified into a hulking green, ah, hulk who pounds on various left-leaning personages at the behest of the Republican Party. So we know Peter David didn't script it.

Aside from the politics, The Incredible McCain Girl also manages to convey an entire, coherent storyline in less than a year, which would also tend to rule out PAD as the creator.

As evidence of the ongoing propagation of the Peter David and the Vagina of Doom meme, I offer this episode of webcomic Diesel Sweeties. At the rate he's going, Peter David's primary contribution to She-Hulk lore will be his super-strong vagina monologue.

I have to admit, these home-rolled She-Hulk transformation videos are a guilty pleasure of mine.

New York Magazine did a cutesy piece on Iron Man this month suggesting some celebrities who might be cast as superheroes in future movies. Zooey Deschanel - who I'd never heard of before - is NY Mag's suggestion for She-Hulk:

ZOOEY DESCHANEL AS …SHE-HULK

Why It’s Unlikely: Despite her decadelong résumé, you still probably think her first name is a typo.

Why It Could Be Perfect: Her impressive range (David Gordon Green dramas; Elf) would sure come in handy for playing timid attorney Jennifer Walters and her green-skinned alter ego, who occasionally copulates with werewolves.

Of course, anybody who read the comic would know it was mostly Jennifer Walters who copulated with the werewolf [singular]. As far as journalistic rigor goes, NY Mag is only about a half-step above The New Republic, so we should be grateful they got She-Hulk's complexion right. She is, in fact, green.
